MOUSETRAP to the new POWER : Budget 2009 review

NO "sweets", ONLY "candy paper" Given (part 3)
by Jeff Phoon

I had read an article in another blog [cowboy98] written about the which version of the recent [Budget 2009] Pak Lah will use in related with his "nightmare" on defection against his BN.

Many might have felt that this time Abdullah is fully confident with his BN where Anwar will NOT grab sufficient number of MPs to cross-over in defecting against him and forming a new power in favour to Anwar's Pakatan Rakyat.

That's the obvious factor showed when Abdullah selected the "moderate" version (if yes he created 2 versions of Budget).

Actually if we really look deeply into this budget, it had set out lots of [lock] !

Where if there is any extra allocation for a certain part then it will trap you down !
To definately make you extremely hard to increase the allocation, which he had put in [lock] there if you really study on it!

Any extra allocation = means more on the deficit !

So, when there is going to be any new POWER slop in, it's extremely hard for them to revised and giving more to the "Rakyat" !

It's just like a mousetrap !!

And when there are more deficit, then the country will have to take on debts,

now you get the point ?

no "SWEETS", only "CANDY PAPER" given : Budget 2009 REVIEW (part 2)

by JP

(continued from part 1)

PUBLIC TRANSPORT =>
29.The Government will continue to encourage greater utilisation of public transportation, in the context of improving the productivity and quality of life. I (Abdullah Badawi) have recently experienced for myself the condition of the public transportation system in our capital city. I believe, a more efficient, reliable and integrated public transportation, which provides seamless travel and greater frequency of services, is required.

32.To further improve the efficiency of public transportation, a sum of RM35 billion will be expended during the period 2009 to 2014. This includes projects to enhance the capacity of existing rail services, build new rail tracks, increase the number of buses, as well as provide better infrastructure facilities.

33.The existing LRT system in the Klang Valley will be extended by 30 km, that is 15 km respectively, for Kelana Jaya and Ampang lines. Upon completion in 2011, the extensions are expected to benefit 2.6 million residents in the Subang Jaya-USJ and Kinrara-Puchong areas, compared with 1.9 million currently.

34.At the same time, 35 train carriages for the Kelana Jaya Line have been procured costing RM1.3 billion and these trains will be fully operational by early 2010.

36.To further expand the urban rail service network in the Klang Valley, a new LRT line will be built along a 42 km route from Kota Damansara to Cheras. This new line, with a capacity exceeding 300,000 passengers daily, will, upon completion in 2014, provide rail services to more than one million residents in the housing, industrial and financial areas in the vicinity.

So, now you know how huge volume of the new train carriages needed in our country !??
by scomi
37.The Government also took over the assets and operations of KL Monorail, from a private operator in 2007. Several measures were taken to improve the operational efficiency and maintenance. Following this, the twelve trains acquired are now fully operational. Since the takeover, total ridership has increased by more than 10% from an average of 51,000 passengers daily to 57,000 currently. This takeover will contribute towards establishing a more integrated urban rail service in the Klang Valley.

38.The commuter rail services of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will be upgraded. Towards this end, rehabilitation works are being undertaken on the existing 20 Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) and are expected to be completed in 2009. An additional 13 new units of EMUs will be acquired and be operational by 2011. With this, the capacity of the KTM Commuter is expected to increase from the current 350,000 to 500,000 passengers daily. To expand the commuter rail services network, a 7.5 km Sentul-Batu Caves line is under construction and is expected to be completed by 2010.

WOw! huge number of new rail lines and new carriages needed to be invested !

I still remember I had written an article [ Do this also you CAN NOT! ] early last month to expressed my disappointment on this city public transport system.
I'm really doubt about the government ability to create an integrated system which will effectively link up the existing rails provider (LRT, Monorail, Komuter) with road buses and taxi.

HEALTH =>
61.The Government will continue to provide free health services for Malaysians. A sum of RM13.7 billion is allocated in 2009 to enhance health facilities and provide equipments, increase supply of medicines, develop human resources, intensify research and enforcement activities, as well as build more hospitals, clinics and quarters.

62. ... the Government proposes that excise duty specific on cigarettes be increased by three sen from 15 sen per stick to 18 sen per stick. With this, the duty for a 20-stick pack of cigarettes is now increased by 60 sen.

What happened to the excise duty for alcoholic beverages ? NO increment !
Nature ? So, parts of the East Malaysia "orang asli" continue to enjoy a fair price on beer ! cheers ~~

And, I'm curious too about the government decision NOT to increase the duty on gambling sector !
Is that means this government encouranging more expansion for gambling industry ? What'a dangerous remarks !

EDUCATION =>
74.The Ministry of Education is allocated a sum of RM31 billion for the benefit of 5.8 million students. Of this amount, RM1.6 billion is to finance the additional posts created following the opening of 26 primary and 41 secondary schools and the additional expenditure for maintenance, food assistance, scholarship, per capita grant and new equipment.

Yes! they are pumping a lot to educate our children here.
So, more and more pupils are bachelor, master and even doctorate ! great !
Do we expect more and more unemployed master or doctorate here ?
Any proposal to create more employment ?
Any proposal to attract more foreign investment ?
So far, I don't any ... in this budget which themed [ a Caring Government ].

no "SWEETS", only "CANDY PAPER" given : Budget 2009 REVIEW (part1)

by JP

Let us review the Budget 2009 which was unveil by our Prime Minister recently,
[ A CARING GOVERNMENT ]

ELECTRICITY =>
19. As part of the Government’s effort to further reduce the financial burden of the lower income group, households which incur monthly electricity bills of RM20 or less, will not have to pay for electricity, for the period from 1 October 2008 to end of 2009. The Government will bear the cost of such bills, amounting to RM170 million for the period. A total of 1.1 million households will benefit from this measure.

PERSONAL INCOME TAX =>
20.The higher inflation rate has also affected the purchasing power of the lower middle-income group. To assist this group, the Government proposes the current tax rebate of RM350 per person be increased to RM400 for those with taxable income of RM35,000 and below. With this increase, some 100,000 tax payers will be out of the tax net.

yEH! for the lower income group, they will enjoy a total of RM70/= saved approximately.

Further to this, it will be a 1% drop on personal income tax for those earning more than RM250,000/= per annum; AND

also the same 1% drop for those earning RM35,000/= to RM50,000/= !?

So, now you see how fair our country is ?!!!
For those earning RM3,000 ~ RM4,000/= , Yeh! now you are able to buy 2 more bags of rice;
whilst for those earning more than RM20,000/= a month, you will saved approx RM2,000/= to drink 2 more bottles of fine Scotch Whisky at CLUB DE MaCaU, Jalan Ampang.

..... to be continued in (part II)

The Moment
Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 By
HANNAH BEECH

He hardly seems the perfect candidate for a Muslim-majority democracy. Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim spent six years in jail, charged with corruption and sodomy. Earlier this year, he was again slapped with a sex charge when a male former aide accused the 61-year-old politician of rape.

But on Aug. 26 Malaysia's most charismatic politician completed a stunning political comeback by winning a parliamentary seat in a by-election in his home state of Penang.

"It's a signal that the people are ready for change, and that they believe only Anwar can make that change," says Bridget Welsh, a Southeast Asia expert at Johns Hopkins University.

Anwar's ambitions are about much more than just his own political future. Though a small tropical nation, Malaysia has served as a role model in a region often gripped by authoritarianism and riven by factional strife. It has a proud tradition of electoral politics, relatively smooth transfers of power and an ability to achieve social harmony despite its racial and religious diversity.

Yet in recent years Malaysia has stagnated. Its political structure has calcified, corruption concerns have multiplied and the population is cleaving along ethnic lines. Small wonder that in March Malaysians handed Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi's National Front its worst-ever electoral result.

Anwar, who was once a National Front stalwart, says that all charges against him — past and present — are politically motivated. He promises a fresh start, and says he has lured enough defectors from the National Front to bring about the current government's collapse.

Nevertheless, Anwar isn't assured a place as Malaysia's next Prime Minister. For one, he still faces trial on the latest sodomy charge, which he denies. And Anwar's political alliance is an unwieldy amalgamation of Chinese patriots, conservative Muslims and reform-minded technocrats. But if Anwar can keep such a disparate miscellany of parties unified, then he might just be the man to rule a new Malaysia.

Blocking Blogs

1. When a Government makes a promise to the country and then reneges on its promise, then not only will the Government lose credibility but also any respect that the public may have for it.

2. I do not often agree with Malaysia-Today.net and Raja Petra Kamaruddin. He had been sometimes quite irresponsible. But court action had already been taken against him. He is not above the law and if he is found guilty there are already adequate punishment that can be passed against.

3. But to break a promise and to openly show that you can meddle with the security of the internet is to expose a degree of oppressive arrogance worthy of a totalitarian state.

4. I had once before written to a Government Minister that Malaysia has become a police state because the Government instructed the police to call up people who invited me to give talks and coerce them into withdrawing their invitation. The police is not supposed to do that. When the Government makes use of the police for extralegal work then the Government is guilty of abuse of power.

5. The Minister simply replied that I had retired and it was better for me to literally shut up.

6. Now this blockage of the blog is another evidence that this has become an authoritarian state, elections notwithstanding.

7. Where are we heading? The censorship of news in the mainstream media is known to the public. Certainly I know of the blackout on me and the spins on any news about me. Now this.

8. I know that things have been engineered to ensure Khairy Jamaluddin will win as UMNO Youth leader and Dato Seri Abdullah Badawi as President.

Democracy in UMNO is dead. And when democracy dies in UMNO, the party itself will die.

9. I would like to say this to the Prime Minister and his minions. You may have the power now. But as in five States, you may lose power some day. And this will certainly happen because of your obsession to block all contrary opinion from being heard.

It will blind you to the reality of the situation so that you will continue to do wrong things and the people will reject you totally.

Malaysia censors blog after poor poll results
By John Burton in Singapore
Published: August 29 2008 03:00 Last updated: August 29 2008 03:00

Malaysia's leading political blog was being blocked yesterday in what was seen as a crackdown on internet websites credited with contributing to government losses in this year's general election.

The move came as former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim was being sworn in as the new opposition leader following a by-election victory this week that returned him to parliament for the first time in a decade.

Mr Anwar vowed to mount a no-confidence vote against the government by midSeptember.

The Malaysia Today website was blocked by state-owned Telekom Malaysia, the country's leading internet service provider, on the orders of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, which said comments posted on it were "insensitive, bordering on incitement".

The MCMC action represents an apparent reversal of government promises not to censor the internet, except for pornographic websites. The policy was introduced in the 1990s to encourage foreign investment in the showcase Multimedia Super Corridor, near Kuala Lumpur.

Abdullah Badawi, the prime minister, recently admitted the government had underestimated the influence of the internet in the March general election. Internet news sites, such as subscriber-based Malaysiakini, have emerged as credible alternatives to the state-controlled media.

Officials have suggested that they may also adopt the policy of neighbouring Singapore, which uses sedition and defamation suits to counter "unethical" allegations on the internet and to hold bloggers accountable.

Singapore allows critical websites, but it recently jailed two bloggers and put another on probation for making "racist" comments.

Mr Abdullah said disinformation on the internet should not go unchallenged because it undermined trust in the government.

Malaysia Today is seen as the first test of the new policy. The website is operated by Raja Petra Kamarudin, a Malaysian royal family member and long-standing government critic.

"The government has written [to] all 20 internet service providers and I expect we will be blocked by all of them within the next few days. There is strong pressure from the government to do so," said Mr Raja Petra.

Sabah MPs reject loyalty pledge
By RUBEN SARIO

KOTA KINABALU: Many of the 24 Sabah Barisan Nasional MPs are rejecting a move to get them to sign a loyalty pledge to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

State Barisan Backbenchers Club chairman Datuk Anifah Aman said the move proposed by Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Shafie Apdal was an insult to the Sabah MPs. He added that the pledge should instead be signed by all Barisan MPs nationwide.

He said various Sabah MPs including himself had repeatedly voiced their loyalty to the Barisan leadership and pledged that they had no intention of crossing over to join the opposition.

We did this during the Permatang Pauh campaign, on television and again in Kota Kinabalu. Is the frequency of denial equivalent to our loyalty?” said Anifah, the Kimanis MP and Kimanis Umno chief.

frequency = loyalty (so stupid)
(Go home to make many many with your wife and showed that how loyalty you are to your wife)

He said many Sabah Barisan backbenchers had called him asking about the pledge and some had said they felt that they were being treated like “cattle.”

Anifah questioned Shafie's real intentions for proposing the loyalty pledge and wondered whether it was aimed at scoring “political points” in his bid for the Umno vice-president's post in the party polls.

On Thursday, Shafie had said that Sabah and Sarawak MPs would be submitting a pledge declaring their loyalty to the Prime Minister by Friday or Saturday. He had said the MPs from both states would never quit the coalition despite the various rumours about them.

Kalabakan MP Datuk Abdul Ghapur Salleh said the loyalty pledge seemed to infer that Sabah MPs could not be trusted.
(Yeh, they are so stupid until they ONLY sensed that the 30 MPs stated to be defected soon would totally from East Malaysia, and NONE from Peninsular ? They NEVER realised again !)

Saying he would not be signing any such pledge, Ghapur, the Kalabakan Umno chief, said the Sabah MPs had been vocal about issues affecting the state as they felt that these problems had to be resolved.

But this should never be misconstrued as us being disloyal to the leadership,” he added.

Karambunai MP Datuk Eric Majimbun, the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) deputy president, said neither he nor fellow SAPP MP Datuk Dr Chua Soon Bui of Tawau would be signing such a pledge.

What is the point of such a pledge? This so-called pledge doesn't make sense,” he said.

See, how fuck-up they are now ?

Block Blog : Underestimated (part 1)

This news was picked from http://mt.harapanmalaysia.com/2008/content/view/11935/84/,

MALAYSIA on Thursday defended blocking access to a prominent political website that has attacked top leaders, saying it had ignored warnings against publishing 'slanderous' articles.

Malaysia's media is tightly controlled by the government, and it has expressed frustration over its inability to rein in Internet news portals which have become popular alternative news sources.

The XXXX newspaper (newspapaer name intentionally NOT be written) said the government-backed communications watchdog had ordered all 21 Internet providers in the country to block the Malaysia Today website, whose founder has already been charged with sedition.

'I think we don't intend to curtail people's freedom and right to give information and debate,' Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar told reporters.

'But when you publish content that is libellous, defamatory and slanderous to other people I think it is only natural we take action,' he said.

'So many warnings and opportunities have been given and it is not heeded, so I am sure they have exercised their authority well under the law.'

Mr Raja Petra Kamaruddin, founder and editor of the Malaysia Today website, confirmed that access to his website had been blocked but said a mirror site had been established with a foreign provider.

'I will fight the government action all the way. Their action will not stop me from writing,' he said, promising to challenge the shutdown in court.

Media watchdog Reporters Without Borders ranks Malaysia 124 out of 169 on its worldwide press freedom index, and says the main media are 'often compelled to ignore or to play down the many events organised by the opposition'.

The government has previously threatened that bloggers could be punished under draconian internal security laws which provide for detention without trial.

Get the point here?

next PM : Revengeful, Homo, Bi or Capable ? (part2)

YEs, 50 thousands of People at Permatang Pauh had voted for their next MP and indirectly determined this country's Prime Minister !

Nobody would doubt when Anwar said early that he was confident to has 30 MPs will defect against BN adn cross-over in favour to his Pakatan Rakyat which will inderectly make him the Prime Minister of this country !

According to the latest news form PKR's informats, Anwar is leading about 5,000 votes now !!

So, we are very close to see the born of the new MP (opps..), supposed to be the PM of Malaysia !!!!!

People had voted a capable person, hopefully ..

People had voted a non-revengeful minded person, hopefully ...

People had voted a homo or bi sexual habitual person ? NOt our concerns .....

We hope that this glory will still make him a MP (or soon PM) who look after the sake of the people;

We hope that this glory won't sunk his good sense ~

next PM: Revengeful,Homo,Bi or Capable ?(part1)

One thing that we've been misturned, misleaded or blindfoled (or whatecer word is that)was :

"Can we accept a homo or bisex person to be our our PM? "

"What's wrong? as long as long he is capale in bringing the country ........( bla.bla..bla... ya his money-festo.....not to repeat here, people'll get vomit and we just want to see results ),"

"Yes! as long as he is capable,"

"So, no big deal that whether he is homo, bi or tranx ?!"

The conclusion is he must look after the sake of the people !!

That's right!So, you got point here.

But, wait ! just look deeply and think twice whether this the [many-times alleged person] is he really a kind of person who will definately think good of his Rakyat priority ?

And had he really buried his personal "indignant" and put aside "revengeful" mind ??

We are curiuos on these issues but NOT his sexual habitual !

Respect decision of March 8, Anwar told

Respect decision of March 8, Anwar told
By LOONG MENG YEE

KUALA LUMPUR: The Opposition is in control of five states, but its leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim continues to drag the country into political uncertainty because he wants to be prime minister.

MCA Youth chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said Anwar should respect the wishes of the people made known in the March 8 general election results.

“The opposition keeps saying the wishes of the people must be respected.

“Then respect the decision of March 8. They want the opposition to rule five states, but Barisan Nasional to helm the Federal Government.

“However, instead of concentrating on how to govern the fives states properly, Anwar is putting all effort to become prime minister. That was not what the voters wanted,” Liow told reporters after launching the Easy Pha-Max Healthylympics and the company's first store here Friday.

As for the sodomy allegation by Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, Liow said it was unfair for Anwar to accuse the Government of conspiracy because “it is between the two of them”.

“Let the matter be settled in court. After all, Anwar and his team have said that the court has been fair.

“Stop hoodwinking the people by claiming that the Government is out to set him up,” he said.

Liow added that the people and the country faced many issues, such as the rising cost of living and intense global competitiveness.

However, Anwar seemed bent only to chart his way to Putrajaya.

“He does not seem to care that this ambition of his is unsettling the country. Enough is enough, have some responsibility and think of the country instead of personal glory,” he said.

Liow said both Barisan and the Opposition should spend their time governing the country and states well. At the end of five years, both could present their results to the rakyat.

“If he thinks he can be the next prime minister, he can always stand as a candidate then. As for now, concentrate on running the five states.

The public are getting fed-up with all the political drama,” he said.

Liow, who is leading the MCA team in the Permatang Pauh by-election, said the party would reach out to the grassroots and let them know that Anwar’s main agenda was becoming prime minister at any cost.

PP Voters : Determination of the next PM

by Jeff Phoon
Tomorrow the Permatang Pauh's voters will vote for their next Member of Parliament for their area.

But all of us knew that this will be the [Anwar-Strike Back aiming to be PM route] which will totally leading Anwar either in his glory or burying !

We knew that and never doubt about his capability to fight for the Dragon Seat's chair when he claimed that he is fully confident about 30 MPs defection against BN and crossing over favour to his Pakatan Rakyat which enable him to hold the majority seats and becoming the next Prime Minister !

So, eventually the Permatang Pauh' voters are actually determining the sake of this country people's destiny tomorrow, where if they are voting for Anwar to be their next MP means indirectly they have voted Anwar to be the next Prime Minister of this country !!

So, you folks of people there, please.. we bag you please really think twice before you voting !

Our destiny is on your hand !!!

BN : 40% votes & PR : 45% (but ANWAR only 35%)

So, there was ONLY 35% here to prefer Anwar to be the next PM ?!

We also read the poll of [Who do you MOST prefer to be the next PM (after Pak Lah)?] here at the corner and concluded that:

1. 5% (Muhyiddin Yassin) + 25% (Rais Yatim) = 30% UMNO

2. 10% (Ong Tee Keat) ===============> 10% MCA

* Barisan Nasional (BN) total ==========> 40% only

3. 35% (Anwar) + 5% (Wan Azizah) ======> 40% PKR

4. 5% (Lim Kit Siang) ================> 5% DAP

# Pakatan Rakyat (PR) total ===========> 45% majority

5. 10% (Dr. Zeti) ===================> 10% independant (calon bebas)

6. 5% (others) =====================> 5% void (undi rosak)

see, what's the people wish ??

DRAGON SEAT: Anwar is NOT suit

Amaran Ezam pada Anwar...
Jul 12, 08 12:00pm

Ezam warns Anwar: I will reveal your dark secrets
Jul 12, 08 2:34pm
Anwar Ibrahim has received a stern warning from his former protege Ezam Mohd Nor.“If you link me to a political conspiracy over the sodomy report, I will divulge your secrets,” Ezam declared.

read more at http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/86010

Ezam had warned Anwar that he will reveal everything he knew related to the PKR leader de factor, even though that will embarrass his children and family.

Why he is still keeping the dark secrets if yes he said so he knew ? Why those secrets which was in Ezam’s mind might embarrass Anwar ? What’s exactly was that in Ezam’s mind? What the plague!?

And at the time the malaysiakini revealed the statement, these few things happened:
1. There was no any echo or statement related to it. Not in any language, and not in any other news media. Very obvious, there was somebody (or probably two complots) to stop echoing..in whatsoever method.
2. I had try to publish the news into PKR’s online forum, and my posts was immediately deleted by the host.

These show that the secrets which Ezam knows was extremely damaging until the complots stopping
echoes.

Besides my curiosity about the things played behind Ezam’s hand, my priority thought is “This man whose having somethings unrevealed (dark secrets, assuming that will be something total destroying) folded by his political foe, is he suit to crowned for the dragon seat or not ???” think of yourself, buddies.....

Anwar : 35% voted you to be the next PM

From the poll [Who do you MOST prefer to be the next PM (after Pak Lah)?] that the 3rd PARTY 'd hold recently and the result showed can be interpreted as following :

1. 35% of the reader of [ the 3rd PARTY ] voted for prefering Anwar to be the next PM;

2. 25% of voted Rais Yatim;

So, the 1st conclusion we got : majority of people prefering Anwar to be the next PM. This was the first interpretation from the vote.

Well, if we really go read on the poll, we also can find out that:
1. 65% of the reader here NOT prefer Anwar to be the next PM;

2. 5% of the reader here even prefer Anwar's wife BUT NOT to Anwar;

3. total votes for PKR's Anwar and Wan Azizah only 40%;

So, now you see the different view.

More than 50% of us do NOT prefer Anwar to be the PM;

we rather prefer his wife to be BUT not him;

and more than 50% of us do NOT prefer PKR's twin to be the next PM !!

Some of the reader here even vote for a economist - Dr Zeti to be the next PM !

Well, some of you (the 35% of hardcore fans of Anwar) might not agreed my conclusion here,
and you are welcome to vote for my second poll [ A poll echo of Anwar-35% prefer You to be the next PM ] at the corner here exclusive in [ the 3rd PARTY ]

BN 's or PR 's : yoU been Labelled

by Jeff Phoon

If a person do not support Pakatan Rakyat, what do we call him (or her) ?

"He is a Barisan Nasional 's supporter."

This could be a majority answer for a person who do not support Pakatan Rakyat. Majority of the people around will categorise that person as a BN's supporter, and label him as [BN's] !?

I'm just wondering since when that this country had enacted a law stated that { since the first day a child born, he will be labelled either as [BN's] or [PR's] } ?!

So, why can't we just have few more groups of people whom they are neither [BN's] nor [PR's] ?

"He had supported PR because he was totally upset with his then situation where BN ruled the federal government; but he is not support PR now due to he has been revealed about dark-side of the mainstream power in the Pakatan - PKR,"
"so we can't simply label him as a [BN's], he is not support BN too"

I'm also wondering why Dr. Koh (PGRM acting-Head), who in his recent speech expressed his party's dilemma whether to pull-out his party from BN and joining PR; and a NTV 7 had hold a vote option for audience to vote either :-

[1. PGRM stay with BN] or

[2. PGRM pull-out from BN and join PR]
Why can't they think of a third option, where [pull-out from BN but NOT joining PR] ?!

Yes, talk is easy but when come to reality expecially for political party, it's damm hard for them to truly sacrifice their interests (seat=power, post=money) and purely think of people's interests.

Yes, this could be extremely impossible happened in any political party!
But we as no-party interest have the Rights to choose NOT to support [BN], [PR] or any other party! And we won't labelled either as [BN's] or [PR's]!!

They Never Realised (part 2)

I have read a article again from Malaysia's cerdikiawan: Dr. M, and I totally think that he had written up what I'm intend to write on today:

2008 GENERAL ELECTION
Posted by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at August 21, 2008 8:14 AM

1. I am amazed that there are still people in this country who think that the opposition parties "won" the general elections because they promised a more open society with transparency and whatnots, including of course doing away with the Internal Security Act.

2. Do they think that the swing; the mass desertion of the Malay villagers from UMNO, the Chinese from Chinese parties and the Indians from MIC in order to vote for the opposition parties, be they PAS or DAP or PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat), was due to their wish to see the abolition of the ISA or to seek for greater transparency, or desire for greater human rights, for free speech and open discussions at intellectual levels?

3. Are these the subjects that padi farmers, food stall holders and hawkers, the rubber tappers, the Class F contractors talk in the coffee shops at "intellectual" levels?

4. Do they care that our democracy is not as liberal as the western democracies? Do they care about detached intellectual discourse by intellectuals who want to display their intellect?

5. If they, the intellectuals think or believe that these kampong people, petty traders and hawkers voted for the opposition because of these ideals, because they have become very mature, because they want to see change, then think again. Go down to the very "unintellectual" level of these ordinary voters and try talking to them about your ideas.

6. You will find that their concerns are about their cost of living, the price of padi, jobs for them and their children, some of whom are graduates, their small businesses, the little development for their villages and urban slums, their dissatisfaction with their treatment by Government officers and their wakil rakyat not visiting them etc.

7. Whom do they blame? They blame UMNO and its leaders and the kowtow-ing leaders of MCA, Gerakan, MIC. In particular they blame the Prime Minister, Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

8. Why did they blame Abdullah? Their reasoning was simple. Under previous Prime Ministers they were very much better off; the prices of goods did not go up too high, their incomes had increased, the officials were more attentive and so were their wakils etc etc.

9. Besides these there were no other changes. UMNO, MCA, Gerakan, MIC were all still there although they were somewhat different, being led at the local and national level by grasping politicians concerned with holding posts which gave them opportunities to enrich themselves, getting JPs (Justice of Peace), Datuk-ship, Tan Sri-ship and other ships, kissing the PM's hand in order to win his favour. They cared more for what they could get from him than what they could do for the people. And his response was to favour these leaders and not the people. These leaders and party hacks would keep him as their President and therefore his Premiership. For the people he proposed Corridors in the future.

10. The people did not object too much to the corruption. It would be good if they got a piece of the goodies themselves. But the Prime Minister did not bother. Comfortable with the support of his party people he did not see the need to bribe the people. So the people owed him nothing.

11. They regarded him as being responsible for all their misfortunes simply because all these misfortunes came during his time, or more crudely it came from him. So it seems to them.

12. One of the things that the simple people did not like was a lack of gratefulness shown by these leaders. They, the ordinary voters were too scared to protest over this show of ungratefulness on the part of the Prime Minister and his minions. But they felt strongly about Abdullah's lack of gratefulness, especially as he let his minions show crudely their ungratefulness, cursing and condemning the people who had been responsible for their exalted position as Ministers etc.

13. The people feared the reaction of the Government and did not voice their disgust at such uncouth behaviour. But that did not mean that they were prepared to overlook such displays of ungratefulness. And so the first time they felt free to express their views without fear they did - by voting against the Barisan Nasional.

14. And so the BN lost. But the opposition did not win, certainly not because the simple voters liked the opposition. They won by default because that was the only way the erstwhile BN supporters could show their dislike for the people they blame for their problems. The BN lost, the opposition really did not win.

15. The liberal intellectuals should be able to see this. But they wanted so much to believe that they had convinced the opposition parties and the voters about their ideals of liberal democracy, their free speech, transparency etc etc. that they took the apparent success of the opposition as being due to their espousing and the electorate being convinced of the kind of politics the intellectuals preach.

16. And so when recently opposition party members behaved in the old ways, reverting to racism and religious intolerance, to disliking sensitive issues to be openly discussed, to regarding those of their own kind joining the liberals as betrayers, they became unhappy at what they consider to be treachery on the part of the opposition.

17. But the opposition led by the wily master of spin, Anwar Ibrahim, only made a show of being liberal, of being advocates of freedom of expression, as being above racialism, of being against detendtion without trial and of being all the way with the liberal intellectuals. They have no intention of being all these. But it was good politics and a good way to hoodwink the naive intellectuals and their even more naive followers.

18. The intellectuals and the pretenders had allowed themselves to be led by the nose up the garden path. The hard nosed real politicians, especially of the oppositions are laughing.

19. It is time the so-called intellectuals realise they were being duped by the Master of Spin, the pious Muslim who is also the bosom pal of Paul Wolfowitz, the neo-con Jew, the killer of Muslims, the supporter of Hindraf and of the Chinese schools etc. etc.

20. But intellectuals will not admit they have made a grave mistake. They see what they want to see. Carry on dreaming. Hold your forum, discuss what you like. You are driving the people further and further apart, pushing them back to their old racialism. You are helping to hold up a regime that is incompetent and thoroughly corrupt. You are helping to destroy this country.

Defection : People Wish or NOT ?

by Jeff Phoon
This is the new "Jemaah Menteri Malaysia 2008" ??

This won't be the ONLY question arised when you first read on a newspaper morning after wake up.

It will be a full list of "questionaire" , sounded more or less like this:

"you want Anwar to be the PM ? "

"ya, good! now we will have a Chinese DPM..."

"who say i want him to be the PM ? "

"we were just not happy with the BN's ruling, and we don't want BN to become too strong, we never say that we support that Anwar to be the PM..why him?"

huh, so now you start to regret!

"we rather to have Wan Azizah, the woman who play a strong hold to his husband, but NOT him !"

Really think of the people's wish before you doing it !!

Datuk Seri, Why you Pointed Finger Like this?

Datuk Seri, why you pointed your finger like this?

We are totally disappointed with what we heard that the Perak Pakatan Rakyat state's government warned the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) and all print and electronic media to make a public apology within 24 hours following the publication of the report which tarnished the image of two of its Executive Council members, that the state government would take legal action by seeking compensation from the parties involved.

Your two State Executive Councillors who were detained had asked the ACA and the media to apologise openly to them for carrying the slanderous report which was not substantiated. If the apology was not made within 24 hours, they would file a RM100 million suit against the parties concerned.

Did you awared of these statements before your [ ma-chai ] made it, Datuk Seri ?

Don't tell us that you are being more despotic now even before you really sit at the "Dragon Seat" ?

People will still prefer you look like this :

Well, where is manifesto then ? Have time, before you really throw it rubbish better read it !!

Inflation : Strike Back (a little)

by Jeff Phoon

Malaysia PM finally announced to reduce the the petrol price.

Although the dropping percentage is only 5.5% (for RON97 petrol ), and although most of the people said that this is the PP by-election "sweet"; but we are here to still welcome the government to take this appropriate action to fight for inflation.

Yes, talking about the inflation, on of the malaysia most popular website (malaysiakini) had posted in a commentary ( in whether deliberately or coincidencely ), stated that "the inflation rate rose to a new 26-year high of 8.5 percent in July, driven higher by the escalating cost of fuel and electricity" !!

So, we are wondering whether the private sector (expecially rice, oil and other necessity traders) are reducing their trades' prices due to transportation cost reduced;

And we are also hope that the TNB will cut down our electricity charges accordingly.

Ya..some people might just think that it's quite impossible.

"have you ever seen the reducing of rice or others ? it trend to going up only all the while....."

"even petrol price cut, the rice and others won't simply price cut..."

we just see...

Pak Lah: Now You're Doing It

by Jeff Phoon

I am please to read a news that PM had started to take appropriate steps since my last month's article [ Do this also you CAN NOT! ] posted here.

I am proud either to Pak Lah or myself.

Well, at least who's know Prime Minister had read (watchdog) my blog and picked up few significant points here. My pleasure to share with you.

This is today news posted in http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/8/21/nation/20080821122649&sec=nation,

PM unhappy with Komuter, LRT services

KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister took a ride on the Komuter and LRT trains and was not impressed.
In the journey from Serdang to Masjid Jamek using the two train systems, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi got a first-hand look at the congestion problem, especially during peak hours.
He also talked to passengers to get their feedback on the services provided.
He said later that the operations of the two train services were not systematic and there were also insufficient coaches.

--------------------------------------

Yes, there are totally insufficient of coaches (which particularly means the signs, logos and diagram maps). People will get it difficult to find a exact lane and station to drop down themselves if they are irregular.
So, the KTM concern body must take immediate solutions to help the irregular and they will become yours regular "revenue".

Do it before too late, don't wait until you got NO chance to do then only you start yelling at the NEW power!!

Anwar did it then and PKR do it now

In 1997, Anwar instructed the Penang government to defer taking legal action against a shipping company. (according to http://www.nst.com.my/Wednesday/National/2326493/Article/index_html)

Former Penang CM Koh Tsu Koon said Anwar, who was then deputy PM, telephoned him to negotiate a new repayment scheme with Business Focus, formerly owned by Tan Sri Amin Shah Omar Shah, who is the elder brother of Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah - the BN's candidate for the Permatang Pauh by-election. Arif had never been a director or shareholder of Business Focus.

"I received a phone call from Anwar, asking me not to proceed with the legal action against Business Focus Sdn Bhd," Koh said. Speaking at a hotel here, Koh said Business Focus was then given an additional six years to repay its loan.

The Penang Development Corporation (PDC) had sold shares in its subsidiary, Penang Shipbuilding Corporation Sdn Bhd, to Business Focus for RM29 million in 1992.

"They repaid their loan progressively and we collected about RM20 million until the final RM9 million payment when they defaulted in 2003. As a result, we proceeded with legal action."Koh, who was also the PDC chairman then.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

No big deal, this was Anwar's past tense. People use to be forgetful and being forgiveness.

"he have changes a lot after jailed..."

"no problem, he will still be the PM. or you still seeing the ex-prisoner being the CM now..."

These is the our "instinct". We will forgive one person if he is capable and really change to be good. And we will forget his pass pass whatever he did!

And I still did't get shocked when I was reliable hearsay that 2 PKR members who're holding Perak state's exco post being detained by ACA for alleged graft, involving a housing project worth RM180mil today. The things which didn't shocked me is that some people said,

"that was his [ma-chai], not him..."

"what's related with Anwar?..."

see, no big deal!

1992 - RM29 mil; 2008 - RM180mil. proof anything here?

PGRM : The Reel Of Defection

by Jeff Phoon

Conclude recent headlines, a defection against BN will be started soon.

Perak Gerakan wants the party to pull out of Barisan Nasional in view of the coalition leaders adopting a political culture that garners support only from particular communities.
(Making the proposal at the state delegates' conference Sunday, Perak Gerakan chief Datuk Chang Ko Youn said about 80% of the delegates agreed with the issue.)

Chang, Gerakan Vice-President, who was re-elected Perak Gerakan chief after thrashing his opponent Liew Yiew Aw with a 175-vote majority said "We still see politicians playing race and religious issues and this is not good for the country,"

Perak Gerakan Wanita chief Datuk Tan Lian Hoe said party leaders had been closely monitoring the situation and the performance of Barisan leaders who had been using racial and religious issues to garner support from their members.
"This is not healthy for the country. It has created dissatisfaction among the grassroots and we are considering how such matters could affect us in Gerakan," said Tan, who is also national Gerakan Wanita chief.
Initial feedback from the delegates, she said, was that they were dissatisfied with Barisan leaders who used racial issues to garner support from their members.

Datuk Tan Lian Hoe is also holding a Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Information post in the current BN's government, who believed is preparing herself to be discipline-actioned by the party or even to be forced resigned by the BN's government, seems likely to have a strong confident in the exchanging of the government which leading to her recent movements.

More explosives phenomenon happened when the outspoken Dr. Toh Kin Woon, the then Penang states government's Exco-member, was seen to present at the PKR's by-election operation site and expressed his support to Anwar because the PKR leader will strengthen democracy and make the opposition's voice stronger in Parliament.

Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon quashed talks of the party pulling out of Barisan.
Dr Koh said he would discuss the matter with party leaders, noting that there seemed to be differences in opinion among its members.
To leave Barisan or not does not arise now, as we are busy campaigning for the Permatang Pauh by-election,” he said.

And we foreseen that even the party's chief was pull-aside the party's major concern issue (which will determine the party's future) but to leave his "horses" to throw out several "touchstones" which searching for feedbacks either from party's members or other concern.

From here, he kick-start the defection. I don't think the party will wait until national delegates conference (NDC) in October to decide whether to pull out or remain in BN due to the result of the country opposition head (Anwar)'s by-election will be known on this August 26 soon. And I don't think "the people could later decide who they wanted to stay in power in the next general election" as prescibed by Dr Koh.

A BN's component party will finally defect and others will follow his step or not, we just see.....

WHITHER MALAYSIA

This was the recent posting picked from http://test.chedet.com/che_det/2008/08/whither-malaysia.html

WHITHER MALAYSIA

Posted by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at August 8, 2008 11:00 AM

1. I am very touched by the response to my article "The Country We Love" (July 27, 2008). We may have our differences, we may be of different races but it seems that we all love this country.

2. I have been abroad hundreds of times but I never fail to look forward to returning home. And as I step off the plane I would feel that sense of belonging that almost move me to tears. I am quite sure that every Malaysian feels this way upon returning to this, our very own homeland.

3. As Malaysia we are not an old country for we came into being only slightly more than 50 years ago. But it had been a very eventful half a century.

4. No one gave us much of a chance when in 1957 we lowered the Union Jack and flew the Jalur Gemilang. We were of many races, cultures and religions, divided again by our economic functions, by extreme disparities in material wealth.

5. But our wise founding fathers, our Tunku Abdul Rahman, our Tan Cheng Lock and our Tun Sambanthan worked out a unique form of racial cooperation that staved off any violent confrontation between the races.

6. That cooperation, embodied in the coalition of racial parties and the Alliance/National Front Governments enabled the country to remain peaceful, bar one or two hiccups for 50 years.

7. Those were glorious years. The country grew and prospered. It became the model of the development of a developing country, a model of racial cooperation. It became known throughout the world where once no one could evenpronounce its name. It was the envy of other developing countries.

8. Malaysians abroad felt proud because the moment they identified themselves as Malaysians, immediately people talked of F1 in Sepang and the twin towers.

9. There seemed to be nothing to stop us from achieving our goal of becoming a developed country by 2020.

10. Now all these dreams seem to have faded away. We are involved in political wrangling of all kinds, our leaders seem to be uncertain about what to do, our foreign policy is in disarray etc etc.

11. We have lost our direction. And we get no guidance.

12. We can withdraw into ourselves and merely wish our problems would go away or would solve themselves.

13. But that is wishful thinking. They will not solve themselves, they will not go away. If at all they will become worse, become much more difficult to resolve, as our people become more deeply divided.

14. The organisations created by our founding leaders which we were once confident could handle every problem have now deteriorated. Everything is about what is in it for me. Even the ordinary members of once respected political parties want something for themselves. Jobs, posts, titles, contracts and filthy lucre are the only things which matter.

15. Sacrifice? What sacrifice?

16. Who cares to sacrifice whatever. For most of the people we put our trust in to steer this beloved country to greater heights, the only sacrifice is to give up the Mercedes Benz for Proton Perdana, and that too very reluctantly.

17. I (Dr. Mahathir Mohamad) wasn't the best of leaders when I was in the hot seat.

18. But I did try my best. If my best is not good enough I am sorry.

19. But Dato Onn Jaafar, Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Abdul Razak, Tun Hussein Onn, Tun Tan Siew Sin, Tun V.T. Sambanthan cannot be faulted in terms of the sacrifices they made, their contributions to building racial harmony, peace and stability for their country.

20. Could it be that we forgot to teach this generation of leaders about the sacrifices made by our founding fathers.

21. Could it be that we cannot handle wealth as we did poverty?

22. Could it be that our leaders lack honour and the sense to accept responsibility and to retire gracefully?

23. Some simply cannot accept the realities, the role they had played in the destruction of a near perfect system which had done so much for our country.

24. Yes we should "Cry the Beloved Country" as Alan Payton said of his South Africa of the Apartheid past.

25. But crying would take us nowhere.

26. It is time the silent majority stop being silent.

27. It is time to speak up and be counted.

28. If we love our country we must not allow crooks and charlatans to rape and steal it from us.

29. It is ours, this country of many races and religions.

30. We must stand together, we the concerned Malaysians, and defend our heritage.
======================================================

Let's show them our unity, our strength to hold these tight as we are NOt simply to be "yes yes" man..... wake up bro ad sis.....
